The NCK story so far
Dr Niels Clauson-Kaas, a well-reputed university researcher, founded NCK in 1956. He wanted to create an innovative company with strong competences within research and development in the field of organic chemistry.
His career started at the universities in Copenhagen, Zürich and Haifa. In 1949 he was offered a position as head of an industrial organic synthesis laboratory in Denmark, and in 1956 he decided to start his own company focused on research and development in organic synthesis, providing contract services to the chemical industry.
Dr Niels Clauson-Kaas remained a chemist and a scientist at heart. His reputation as an outstanding chemist was, and still is, a core asset to the company. He headed a group of highly competent and dedicated chemists – and together they created the inspiring and innovative environment, today known as NCK.
In 1983, a foundation was established to buy out Dr Niels Clauson-Kaas. The objective was to build a sustainable company, and continue having an inspiring working environment.
Emphasis was put on life science, and parallel to this, a more ambitious marketing strategy was implemented. From being a regional player, primarily doing business in Europe and Israel, the management successfully expanded the strategy to include the United States and Japan.
